Chicago Police Issue Alerts on Two Robbery Patterns: Downtown Jewelry Thefts and Northwest Side Store Holdups
Detectives are asking for tips after publishing incident lists with sparse suspect descriptions.
Overview
- Police say downtown offenders robbed pedestrians wearing gold chains between Aug. 1 and Aug. 29 in Grant Park, the Loop and the New Eastside.
- Locations listed include stretches of Columbus Drive, Balbo Drive, Roosevelt Road and multiple blocks of East Wacker Drive.
- At least one downtown suspect wore a black T-shirt, blue jeans and white gym shoes, with witnesses describing one to four offenders of various sexes ages 20 to 40.
- A separate Northwest Side pattern involves a lone gunman who pointed a handgun at store clerks and took cash on Aug. 15, Aug. 17 and twice on Aug. 30 in North Park and Norwood Park East.
