Overview

  • A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery and vehicular hijacking for the July 31 fatal carjacking in Burnside.
  • In South Shore, a 16-year-old girl was wounded in a drive-by and officers arrived nearly 20 minutes late after the ShotSpotter system ended, and late Wednesday a 14-year-old boy and a 31-year-old man were shot with no suspects in custody.
  • Officers responding to a pre-dawn smash-and-grab at a Northwest Side GameStop were struck by a fleeing vehicle, prompting an officer-involved shooting and a COPA probe into the use of force.
