Overview

• Chicago police officers responded to a report of a man with a knife inside a sixth-floor apartment in the 3000 block of West 21st Place in Little Village around 2:10 a.m. Friday.
• The man confronted officers at the door while holding a knife and advanced toward them, leading officers to fire their weapons, striking him multiple times.
• The man was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
• Two officers were taken to a hospital for observation following the incident, and they will be placed on routine administrative duties for at least 30 days.
• The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the use of force, and the public has been encouraged to provide any relevant information to the agency.
