Chicago Police Charge Pierre Davis in South Side Shooting of Woman and Gunfire at Officers

Investigators are reviewing the police shooting under standard protocol.

Overview

  • Police say officers responded around 7:49 p.m. Friday to a domestic disturbance in the 7900 block of South Ingleside Avenue involving a man reported with a gun and a knife.
  • Pierre Davis, 28, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault on peace officers, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
  • CPD says Davis allegedly fired at pursuing officers in an alley before two officers returned fire, striking him multiple times; officers rendered aid and he was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition, where he remains in custody.
  • Before police arrived, a 23-year-old woman was shot twice in the right arm inside a residence and was hospitalized in good condition; investigators recovered a firearm at the scene and documented shell casings and bullet damage.
  • Both officers were evaluated at a hospital in good condition and have been placed on administrative duties for at least 30 days as COPA and CPD’s Investigative Response Team investigate.
