Overview
- The city is seeking its 112th official Christmas tree to stand in Millennium Park at Michigan and Washington.
- Entries are due Oct. 14 by emailing dcase@cityofchicago.org with the owner's contact information, a short explanation of why the tree should be chosen, and at least two photos including one wide shot and one close-up.
- Eligible trees must be at least 45 feet tall, located within 50 miles of the Loop with preference inside 15 miles, and preferably a Norway spruce or fir, with pines ineligible.
- The tree-lighting ceremony is set for Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. and will air live on CBS News Chicago.
- The selected tree will be transported, installed, and decorated by the city and will remain lit through Jan. 11.
