Chicago Med Season 9 Premieres with New Cast Members and Fewer Episodes

The new season will introduce fresh dynamics as it navigates the departure of fan favorites and the impact of Hollywood strikes.

  • Chicago Med is entering its ninth season with several new cast members, including Luke Mitchell who will play Dr. Mitch Ripley, an emergency department doctor with a troubled past.
  • The new season will premiere on Wednesday 17th January 2024 at 8pm ET and 7pm Central Time in the US on NBC, with episodes streaming the next day on Peacock.
  • Several fan favorites, including Dr Will Halstead, Dr Dylan Scott, Dr Ethan Choi, and April, will not be returning for the new season.
  • The season's episode number has been reduced to 13 due to the writers' and actors' strikes that affected Hollywood in 2023.
  • The plot of season 9 is under wraps, but it’s expected to pick up where season 8 left off, with more crossovers with Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, more patients to be saved, and potential fallout following the departure of Dr Will Halstead.
