Chicago Launches Fourth ‘You Name a Snow Plow’ Contest

Residents can submit a single 50‑character name by Jan. 10 at Chicagoshovels.org.

Overview

  • The Department of Streets and Sanitation will select 25 finalist names from public submissions.
  • Citywide voting runs Feb. 1–14, with residents choosing the top six entries.
  • The six winning names will be assigned to one snowplow in each of Chicago’s six snow districts.
  • Commissioner Cole Stallard describes the contest as a crowd favorite that showcases community creativity and city crews’ work.
  • This year’s winners will join an existing roster of roughly 19 voter-approved names from prior contests, including Skilling It and CTRL‑SALT‑DELETE.
