Overview

  • Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias said the walk-in hours will run Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon at participating facilities.
  • Available in-person services include driver’s license and state ID renewals and applications, REAL ID issuance ahead of the Oct. 10 deadline, TVDL exchanges, vehicle registration renewals and disability placards.
  • Thirteen metro-area offices, from Addison and Aurora to St. Charles and Woodstock, will accept walk-ins on Saturdays.
  • Eight other DMV sites, including Chicago North, Deerfield and Waukegan, will retain appointment-only Saturday operations through Sept. 6.
  • The weekend expansion reverses a fall 2023 move to appointment-only service at densely populated locations and complements online options for routine renewals and registrations.
