Overview
- The shooting occurred around 1:25 p.m. on February 4 on the 7900 block of South May Street in Auburn Gresham, where a white car was struck by roughly 50 rounds and then crashed into a van.
- The victim was identified as Gabryel Ayers, 26, who died after being taken to OSF Little Company of Mary Hospital, while a 27-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and arm and listed in stable condition at Christ Hospital.
- An infant in a rear car seat was not injured, and the driver of the van that was struck declined medical treatment at the scene.
- Video shared online appears to show at least three assailants in black clothing firing at the car before fleeing in a red vehicle, with the shooters returning briefly to fire additional rounds.
