Chicago Cubs Announce New Coaching Staff Under Manager Craig Counsell

Ryan Flaherty Joins as Bench Coach, Darren Holmes and Mark Strittmatter Added, Several Coaches Return from Previous Season

Ryan Flaherty, previously with the Padres, has been hired as the new bench coach for the Chicago Cubs under manager Craig Counsell.
Other new additions to the Cubs' coaching staff include Darren Holmes as bullpen coach and Mark Strittmatter as major league field coordinator.
Returning staff members include Tommy Hottovy as pitching coach, Dustin Kelly as hitting coach, and Willie Harris and Mike Napoli as third base and first base coaches respectively.
John Mallee, who served as the Cubs’ hitting coach from 2015-17, is returning as an assistant hitting coach after spending last season as Triple-A Iowa’s hitting coach.
Pat Murphy, Counsell’s longtime bench coach in Milwaukee, has been promoted to manager after Counsell's departure.
