Chicago Bears Sign Cairo Santos to $16 Million Extension

Chicago Bears have signed placekicker Cairo Santos to a four-year, $16 million extension, with $9.5 million guaranteed.
Santos is currently playing in his 10th NFL campaign, including the last four years in Chicago. He has connected on 27-of-29 field goal attempts this season with a long of 55 yards.
The new deal for Santos represents a significant turnaround from his standing with the Bears franchise and its fans at the end of last year, after he missed five extra-point tries in the 2022 season.
Santos was named the NFC’s special teams player of the month for his performance in November, which included three field goals of 50-plus yards, 41 points and a game winner against the Minnesota Vikings.
With this extension, Santos is now the 13th highest-paid kicker in the NFL based on annual average salary.
