Overview
- Four long-active cadres — Deepak alias Bhima Mandavi (DVCM), Kailash alias Bhima Bhogam and Ranita alias Payki (ACMs), and Sujita alias Karam — surrendered in Gariaband with a cumulative bounty of Rs 19 lakh.
- The surrendered group handed over an SLR rifle and a single-shot gun, and officials said they will be processed for assistance under the state rehabilitation policy.
- Acting on their inputs, a joint team from Gariaband and Dhamtari police with CRPF and CoBRA demolished a camp near Bade Gobra and found a hidden dump, seizing arms, explosives, electronics and about Rs 16.5 lakh in cash.
- In a separate operation, a pressure IED detonated during a DRG patrol in Bijapur’s Indravati National Park, killing constable Dinesh Nag and injuring three personnel who were reported to be stable.
- Police said this brought the year’s toll of slain security personnel in Chhattisgarh to 20, even as at least 44 Maoists have been killed in operations inside Indravati National Park since January.
