Overview

  • Opposition leaders in the July 14 state assembly said only 1.01 lakh tonnes of DAP and 3.59 lakh tonnes of urea have been supplied against targets of 3.10 lakh and 7.12 lakh tonnes, alleging an artificial crisis to curb paddy cultivation.
  • Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam confirmed that 6.40 lakh tonnes of phosphatic fertilisers and over 6 lakh tonnes of urea are stored, with more than 2.14 lakh and 1.62 lakh tonnes respectively still available.
  • The government reported stocking 1.79 lakh bottles of nano-DAP, an extra 25,000 tonnes of NPK and 50,000 tonnes of SSP to offset any DAP shortfall.
  • Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai urged farmers to adopt the recommended nano-DAP and alternative formulations, assuring continuous access through cooperatives and private centres at prescribed rates.
  • An intensive district-level campaign against black marketing has been launched to ensure all fertilisers are sold at government rates and prevent illicit diversion.
