Chhattisgarh Begins Work on 34 New Nalanda Parisar Libraries

Government has released Rs 19.14 crore to 11 urban bodies ahead of construction on modern study hubs statewide.

Overview

  • Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao approved the Rs 19.14 crore first tranche this month and work orders have been issued for all 34 complexes.
  • A flagship 700-seat library in Raigarh will be built through a Rs 42.56 crore CSR agreement with NTPC, making it the state’s largest Nalanda Parisar.
  • Over the past two years the Urban Development Department sanctioned Rs 237.57 crore, with Rs 125.88 crore earmarked in 2025–26 for 18 of the new sites.
  • Projects are spread across five major cities and 11 remote forest districts, ensuring equitable access to higher-education resources.
  • Each complex will feature online and offline study areas stocked with high-quality books to support competitive exam preparation.
