• Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai gave in-principle approval to grant a No Objection Certificate after meeting Telangana Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy in Raipur on September 22.
• Telangana submitted a memorandum committing to bear land acquisition, compensation and rehabilitation expenses for areas affected across the border.
• Backwaters are expected to extend into Bhopalpatnam tahsil of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, impacting about 13.06 hectares of land, 54.03 hectares of river area and 6.35 hectares of nala land.
• The barrage at Tupakulagudem in Mulugu district is designed for 6.7 TMC of storage at a full reservoir level of 83 metres, located downstream of the Indravathi confluence on the Godavari.
• Officials said the NOC is the last interstate requirement before the Central Water Commission considers approval, with the project aimed at stabilising 1.78 lakh hectares and creating 12,146 hectares of new ayacut alongside drinking water supply benefits.
