‘Chhaava’ Surpasses ₹400 Crore Worldwide in 10 Days, Sets New Box Office Milestones

The historical epic starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is now among the highest-grossing films of 2025, despite facing controversy over historical accuracy.

‘Chhaava,’ directed by Laxman Utekar, has grossed ₹444.50 crore globally in just 10 days, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025 so far.
The film has outperformed several Bollywood hits, including ‘Brahmastra,’ ‘Tanhaji,’ and ‘Singham Again,’ and is expected to challenge the lifetime collections of other blockbusters.
The movie is based on the life of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and features Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna in key roles.
Director Laxman Utekar issued an apology to descendants of historical figures Ganoji and Kanhoji Shirke after they accused the film of misrepresenting their ancestors and threatened legal action.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the film’s impact during a public address, highlighting its cultural significance and contribution to Hindi cinema.
