Chester Zoo’s The Reserve Sells Out Before Opening

With rates starting at £396, the 51-lodge resort will reinvest all guest spending into projects protecting rhinos, pangolins and frogs worldwide.

Overview

  • The Reserve opens to its first guests on August 18 with all 51 safari-style lodges fully booked through the end of 2025 and VIP suites reserved into next summer.
  • Lodges overlook private savannah and lakeside habitats housing giraffes, zebras and blesbok, and feature sustainably built, African-inspired interiors for up to 12 guests.
  • Stay packages range from £396 for couples to £1,488.62 for two-night VIP giraffe lodge experiences, including extended-hours zoo access, ranger tours and keeper-led giraffe encounters.
  • As a not-for-profit initiative, every pound spent by guests directly funds Chester Zoo’s global conservation work, such as black rhino protection in Kenya and Rwanda, anti-poaching AI for pangolins in Uganda and community programmes in Madagascar.
  • Chester Zoo projects that The Reserve will drive over £10 million in annual visitor spending and create approximately 70 new local jobs to support its conservation mission.
