Overview
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will chair CUMTA’s second governing board meeting at the State Secretariat on Monday to unveil the Chennai One/Chennai Ondru app and take up approval of the Comprehensive Mobility Plan.
- The CMP covers 5,904 sq km and sets a roadmap through 2048 to build an integrated, safe and sustainable transport system for the Chennai Metropolitan Area.
- The app’s ‘One City, One Ticket’ feature enables a single QR-based ticket across buses, metro, suburban rail, taxis and autorickshaws.
- Available on iOS and Android, the app offers real-time service tracking and journey planning with UPI and card payments and support for multiple languages including Tamil, English, Telugu and Kannada.
- Officials say the combined plan and digital ticketing will cut queues, simplify transfers, encourage a shift to public transport and could serve as a template for other Indian cities.
