Chembur Clinic Operator Booked After Auto Driver’s Death as BMC Finds No Registration

The FIR lists BNS offences alongside alleged breaches of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act.

Overview

  • Chunabhatti police registered a case on Friday against Rameshchandra Bansilal Vishwakarma, who runs Om Clinic on Sion-Trombay Road in Chembur.
  • BMC’s M West ward told the family there is no record of Vishwakarma being a registered medical practitioner.
  • The complaint stems from a December 2024 incident in which auto driver Nantun Jha developed breathing difficulty after receiving an injection and was declared dead at Sion Hospital.
  • Police cited sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 318 (cheating) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sections 33 and 36 of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act.
  • The case was filed on the statement of Jha’s wife and a BMC referral, and investigators reported no arrests so far.
