Cheltenham Town Reappoints Steve Cotterill on Three-Year Deal

New owner Mike Garlick has turned to him to halt a slide to the foot of League Two.

Overview

  • The club confirmed Cotterill’s return on a contract running to summer 2028, 23 years after his first spell.
  • He succeeds Michael Flynn, who was dismissed on 20 September with the team bottom after four points from 10 games and a 7-1 defeat at Grimsby.
  • Chairman David Bloxham said the move was made possible by Garlick’s backing following the August takeover.
  • Cotterill has installed Rob Edwards as assistant, with Russell Milton as chief scout and Keith Burt supporting recruitment, while Aaron Downes steps down from his role.
  • His first match back is at home to Fleetwood on Saturday, with injuries forcing an early assessment that may include signing free agents.
