Overview

• Charlie Bottura, born with a rare genetic syndrome, defended his education degree at the University of Modena on July 11 with a thesis titled “Disabilità e lavoro: l’importanza del lavoro per persone con disabilità.”
• He completed his studies with support from Università 21 Aps, aided by his parents, wife Lara Gilmore and tutor Laura, highlighting inclusive education pathways.
• Following graduation, Charlie maintains his role at Tortellate, the inclusive kitchen that supplies tortellini to the Quirinale, and volunteers at the Refettorio di Modena.
• Massimo Bottura publicly hailed his son’s achievement as “more than a degree, a triumph” and called for replacing pity with respect in perceptions of disability.
• The graduation marks a new phase in Charlie’s journey toward social integration through work and community service in Modena.
