Charles Lawler Sentenced to Seven Years and Eight Months for Chicago Suburbs Robbery Spree

His getaway driver accomplice, convicted on four counts this year, remains detained pending sentencing.

  • U.S. District Judge Robert W. Gettleman imposed a seven-year, eight-month term on 54-year-old Lawler for a series of armed hold-ups.
  • Between September 2021 and April 2022, Lawler robbed four banks and a credit union across Naperville, Lisle, Westmont, Woodridge and Downers Grove.
  • Lawler entered each institution and passed demand notes to tellers while his accomplice waited outside as the getaway driver.
  • Tarandle Lee, 45, was convicted by a federal jury earlier this year on four robbery counts and has yet to receive a sentencing date.
