Overview

  • A special CBI court in Alipore formally charged former principal Sandip Ghosh and four associates under sections 420, 409, 467, 468 and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
  • All five accused remain in judicial custody in Kolkata pending the corruption trial.
  • The trial will begin on July 22 at the special CBI court in Alipore.
  • The Enforcement Directorate registered a suo moto ECIR to investigate suspected money-laundering linked to the alleged financial irregularities.
  • Separate CBI investigations continue to probe a larger conspiracy in the August 2024 on-campus rape and murder of a junior doctor.
