• Chicago prosecutors charged Jeremiah Myles, 19, with aggravated assault of a peace officer and burglary after an off-duty Broadview officer shot him in Greater Grand Crossing.
• Antonio Wallace, 55, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault of a police officer and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon after being shot by CPD officers in Austin.
• CPD says officers ordered Wallace to drop a large knife and deployed Tasers that were ineffective before one officer fired; involved officers were placed on routine administrative duty and COPA opened an investigation.
• COPA published surveillance videos and materials from an Aug. 3 ambush on an off-duty CPD officer in Back of the Yards; no arrests have been announced and a Cook County reward of up to $1,000 is offered for tips.
• In Aurora, Colorado, authorities identified the teen killed by police as 17-year-old Blaze Aleczander Balle-Mason after he called 911 threatening to shoot up a business; a less-lethal 40mm round failed to stop him, no firearm was recovered, the shooter is on paid leave, and an external critical-incident team is reviewing the case.
