• Officers patrolling Cornflower Circle around 9:45 p.m. on July 4 observed a large illegal fireworks setup misfiring toward a nearby home
• The initial misfire ignited additional unauthorized fireworks that struck the girl, causing critical injuries
• Responding officers administered life-saving aid before she was rushed to UC Irvine Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead
• The homeowner responsible for the display was arrested that night and faces charges pending review by the Orange County District Attorney
• The Buena Park Police Department continues its probe in collaboration with the Orange County Fire Authority and the sheriff’s bomb squad
