Chargers Confirm Interview With Steelers OC Arthur Smith for OC Opening

The veteran play-caller faces a crowded field for Los Angeles’ job, with Detroit opting for another candidate.

Los Angeles publicly stated it completed an interview with Arthur Smith for its offensive coordinator vacancy on Jan. 19.
Smith just finished his second season running Pittsburgh’s offense, helping deliver consecutive 10-win, playoff seasons.
His recent work in Pittsburgh featured a strong run game in 2024 and a 2025 campaign with Aaron Rodgers throwing for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.
Smith previously served as the Falcons’ head coach from 2021 to 2023 with a 21–30 record and was the Titans’ offensive coordinator in 2019 and 2020.
The Chargers’ search includes multiple other candidates such as Marcus Brady, Shane Day, Thomas Brown, Brian Callahan, Brian Daboll, and Mike McDaniel, while the Lions chose Drew Petzing for their OC job.
