Overview

• The Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers face off tonight at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, kicking off the NFL preseason at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
• Four members of the Class of 2025—Antonio Gates, Eric Allen, Jared Allen and Sterling Sharpe—will be formally honored during the game’s Hall of Fame ceremonies.
• The NFL debut of expanded onside-kick rules allows trailing teams to attempt recovery from the 34-yard line with the kicking squad lined one yard closer to the ball.
• Both teams will rest most starters and give playing time to backup quarterbacks and rookies, including Trey Lance for the Chargers and Hendon Hooker and Kyle Allen for the Lions.
• NBC will feature veteran sportscaster Brent Musburger in its broadcast booth for the second half, marking his Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award celebration.
