Chandler Moore Sues Maverick City Entities, Exits Collective as Naomi Raine Also Departs

The dispute now moves into litigation following public denials from Maverick City leadership.

Overview

  • Moore filed a federal complaint on Oct. 1 in the Northern District of Georgia, naming Norman Gyamfi, Maverick City Music, TRIBL Records, and affiliated companies.
  • The complaint alleges a 2021 sale of masters to The Orchard that benefitted Gyamfi, a 2022 diversion of Moore’s royalties, and a forged co‑publishing agreement involving Essential Music Publishing.
  • Moore claims more than $800,000 in royalties were withheld and seeks damages as well as court action to void his contracts with Maverick City.
  • He announced his departure from the collective on Oct. 6, and fellow founding member Naomi Raine has also said she is leaving.
  • Maverick City co-founder Jonathan Jay has called the allegations categorically false and described the organization’s dealings with Moore as forthright and above reproach.
