• A passenger near Command Hospital claimed his wife needed a ride to the railway station and sent a fake Rs 4,000 UPI transaction as proof of payment.
• The driver mistakenly transferred Rs 4,000 to the scammer’s account after misreading a day-old credit from a friend as the passenger’s payment.
• The scam wiped out four to five days of the driver’s income in seconds.
• Other Rapido drivers have reported similar hospital-based QR-code scams with the same story and location, and the scammer’s phone number has been traced to Rajasthan.
• Reddit users advised him to file an online complaint via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal as he seeks to report the fraud and recover his money.
