Chamundi Hill Gears Up for Ashada Friday With Traffic Ban and Security Surge

Devotees will board segregated bus services from Lalitha Mahal grounds following the implementation of a three-tier entry system

Overview

  • Vehicle movement to Chamundi Hill is banned from 10 pm on Thursdays to 11 pm on Sundays and only residents with valid ID may access the restricted area
  • KSRTC has deployed 45 buses, including air-conditioned coaches for ₹2,000 ticket holders, running from 5 am to 9 pm to ferry pilgrims from Lalitha Mahal Palace grounds
  • A three-tier darshan system offers free entry, ₹300 and ₹2,000 ticket options with separate counters, dedicated buses and segregated queue lanes
  • Over 1,700 police personnel will be on duty in three shifts across the hill and foothills, supported by 100 AI-enabled CCTV cameras for real-time surveillance
  • Mobile phones and cameras are prohibited inside the temple during Ashada and an official dasoha will provide mass feeding on the first Ashada Friday
