Overview
- UEFA conducted the play-off draw at its Nyon headquarters on 4 August, placing 14 clubs into seven two-leg knockout fixtures.
- Four teams—Celtic, Sturm Graz, Bodo/Glimt and FC Basel—earned direct entry based on last season’s domestic results, with the rest of the play-off field made up of third qualifying round winners.
- The play-off round is divided into a Champions Path of five ties and a League Path of two ties, each pairing seeded and unseeded sides.
- First legs will take place on 19 and 20 August and return legs on 26 and 27 August, with all fixtures kicking off at 9 p.m. CET.
- Winners of the seven ties will join the 29 pre-qualified clubs for the league phase starting in mid-September, while the defeated sides drop into the Europa League group stage.
