Overview
- State prosecutors detained the sixth regidor of Chalco, identified as Christian Jesús “N” and known as “Gimmy” or “Jimy,” in the early hours of Friday under an arrest warrant.
- He is accused of leading the Sindicato 22 de octubre and is under investigation for probable participation in kidnapping, extortion and despojo, in addition to illicit water extraction and sales.
- The detainee was admitted to the Nezahualcóyotl Penitentiary Center and placed at the disposal of the judicial authority as the case proceeds.
- Authorities say the apprehension forms part of the second phase of Operación Caudal, which launched in late October across 48 municipalities and has identified 51 wells and 138 clandestine connections at 189 properties.
