C.H. Beck Publisher Hans Dieter Beck Dies at 92

The sixth-generation leader of the historic publishing house passed away peacefully in Munich on January 3, 2025.

Hans Dieter Beck joined the family-owned C.H. Beck publishing house in 1961 after completing his legal studies and a doctorate in law.
He briefly worked as a judge and prosecutor in Munich before returning to the publishing business in the early 1970s.
As a co-owner with his brother Wolfgang Beck, he focused on expanding the legal, tax, and economics publishing program of the company.
C.H. Beck, founded in 1763, remains a family-run enterprise and employs over 2,200 people across its divisions.
The company emphasized Beck’s unwavering dedication to the publishing house and his pivotal role in shaping its legal and economic literature offerings.
