Florida Lawmakers Demand Transparency, Attorney General Launches Investigation

College Football Playoff (CFP) executive director Bill Hancock responded to Florida lawmakers' demands for 'full transparency' about why undefeated Florida State was left out of the playoff. Hancock cited two main reasons: the season-ending injury of star quarterback Jordan Travis and the Seminoles' strength of schedule.
Florida State was dropped from fourth to fifth in the ranking, behind Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama. This decision sparked outrage among fans and politicians, including U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, who demanded full transparency from the committee.
Despite the explanation, Sen. Rick Scott was not satisfied, arguing that the decision still 'makes no sense' and accusing the committee of a lack of transparency. He demanded the votes of each member on the committee, as well as notes, recordings, emails, texts, and written communication between the committee and others.
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody announced an antitrust investigation into the committee's decision, seeking more transparency to determine whether any laws were violated.
Despite the loss of their star quarterback, Florida State won the ACC title with freshman third-stringer Brock Glenn playing under center. However, the selection committee still chose Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama for this year’s playoff.
