Overview
- CFIA expanded the recall on August 15 to include five additional Dubai-style pistachio and knafeh milk chocolate brands: Chocofolie, Chocolato, Chocolats Favoris, Dubai and Vincent Selection.
- The newly recalled chocolates were distributed in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and through online retailers.
- At least 52 people have fallen ill and 10 have been hospitalized since March in the salmonella outbreak linked to contaminated pistachios and pistachio-containing products.
- Federal agencies continue laboratory testing and complex supply-chain tracing and warn that further illnesses and product withdrawals may emerge.
- Consumers are urged to discard or return recalled items and retailers must halt sales and cooperate fully with the recall process.
