CFE Reports Year-End Gains in Clean Power and Grid Readiness for 2026

Officials highlight high hydraulic reserves as the backbone of next summer’s reliability.

Overview

  • CFE says 27.31% of its January–October 2025 generation came from clean sources.
  • The utility repowered 23 of 166 hydro units, adding 89.2 MW and extending those units’ service life by about 50 years.
  • At the Puerto Peñasco solar complex, 420 MW from Sequences I–II are in commercial operation, with Sequence III in contracting and Sequence IV in technical preparation.
  • Intensive maintenance delivered 503 interventions, lifting offered capacity by 2,439 MW in May–July versus 2024 and cutting low reserve-margin days to one from 12.
  • Net thermal efficiency rose from 34.39% to 35.44% year over year, and hydraulic reserves rank among the largest in 25 years, which the company says underpins summer 2026 reliability.
