Overview
- On Thursday, Nov. 5, CFE director Emilia Calleja told the Chamber of Deputies the utility provides service to 50.2 million customers and has planned capacity and operations to meet rising demand.
- CFE presented a 60-project renewables portfolio for 2024–2030 in which 38 projects would use mixed public–private finance to deliver about 8,026 MW of generation and more than 2,500 MW of storage at an estimated 204,537 million pesos.
- Under the mixed model CFE says joint companies will be roughly 54% state and 46% private, that private partners will supply most capital, and that CFE will contract to buy about 70% of each project’s output.
- The utility reported operational gains for Jan–Aug 2026 with 317,608 interruptions (a drop versus prior years) and average restoration time cut from 25 hours to seven hours, and it is executing 83 transmission projects costing about 89,104 million pesos to add over 3,500 circuit‑km and roughly 9,700 MVA.
- Deputies from several parties pressed CFE on persistent local outages in places such as San Luis Potosí, Guadalupe (Nuevo León) and Saltillo (Coahuila), saying those failures affect water pumps, businesses and households and raise demand for faster local fixes and clearer project transparency.
