CFE Awards 8 Million-Ton Coal Tender for Coahuila Power Plants

Overview

  • CFE issued the award on October 8 for contest CFE-0001-CAAAT-0068-2025 to procure thermal coal for the José López Portillo and Carbón II plants.
  • A total of 7,988,087 tonnes was adjudicated for MXN 12,239,284,598.23.
  • Twenty-seven lots were awarded to various suppliers after a public call with open participation and electronic evaluation.
  • The procedure was requested by CFE's Coordinación Regional de Producción Norte under contract numbers 500659278 (MXN 7.07 billion) and 500659243 (MXN 8.82 billion).
  • Evaluation was based on price using the Porcentaje Base de Descuento, with CFE saying the procurement secures fuel for the Nava facilities and will support jobs and production in the coal region.
