Cessna 182 Crashes Near Fallbrook Airpark, Closing South Mission Road

Federal officials say the plane went down during a landing attempt at Fallbrook Community Airpark.

  • CHP reported a plane down around 2:03 p.m. near South Mission Road and Air Park Road and issued a Mayday alert identifying a Cessna-type aircraft.
  • FAA said the Cessna 182 crashed while landing at Fallbrook Community Airpark at about 2:05 p.m.
  • The pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained minor injuries and was not transported.
  • A 10-by-10-foot vegetation fire near the aircraft was quickly extinguished and the plane itself did not burn.
  • South Mission Road was closed from South Stagecoach Lane to Mission Oaks Road with traffic diverted to Rocky Crest Road as crews remained on scene.
