Overview

  • Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy met Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil in Delhi to demand rejection of the project’s pre-feasibility report.
  • The delegation contended the proposed link violates both the GWDT award of 1980 and the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014.
  • Patil assured them he would flag the issue in all statutory forums and convene an apex council meeting of the two states’ chief ministers.
  • Telangana has sought a no-objection certificate from both Andhra Pradesh and the Centre to use its full entitlement of 1,000 TMC from the Godavari and 500 TMC from the Krishna.
  • Revanth Reddy warned that the state will turn to the Supreme Court and mobilize public support if its objections remain unaddressed.
