Centre Sets April–September 2026 Window for Census Houselisting, Launches Self-Enumeration Option

  • Population Enumeration is scheduled for February 2027 for most areas, with snowbound regions covered in September 2026 and a reference date of 00:00 hours on March 1, 2027.
  • The exercise includes Cabinet-approved caste data collection during enumeration and carries a ₹11,718 crore budget.
