Centre Sanctions 2.35 Lakh Homes Under PMAY-U 2.0

  • The third Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee meeting on June 18 approved 2,34,864 units under PMAY-U 2.0 across nine states.
  • Over 1.25 lakh homes have been earmarked for women, including single women and widows, while 44 houses are allocated to transgender beneficiaries.
  • Of the new approvals, 42,400 units are designated for Scheduled Castes, 17,574 for Scheduled Tribes, and 1,13,414 for Other Backward Classes.
  • Total sanctioned units under PMAY-U 2.0 now reach 7,09,979, bringing the programme closer to its goal of aiding one crore urban households.
  • The scheme operates through four verticals—Beneficiary Led Construction, Affordable Housing in Partnership, Affordable Rental Housing, and Interest Subsidy Scheme—and provides up to ₹2.5 lakh per unit in central assistance.
