Overview
- The Finance Ministry transferred Rs 1,01,603 crore as an advance devolution, separate from the Rs 81,735 crore due on October 10.
- The release is designed to speed up state capital expenditure and sustain welfare payments through the festival period.
- Uttar Pradesh received Rs 18,227 crore, Bihar Rs 10,219 crore, Madhya Pradesh Rs 7,976 crore, West Bengal Rs 7,644 crore, and Maharashtra Rs 6,418 crore.
- The eight Northeastern states together got Rs 8,668 crore, including Rs 3,178 crore for Assam, with allocations also to Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Sikkim.
- Allocations follow the 15th Finance Commission framework that devolves 41% of central tax revenue to states, and the step follows the GST rate overhaul whose near-term revenue impact will be shared.
