Centre Releases Over Rs 223 Crore to Assam Panchayats Under 15th Finance Commission Grants

The fresh tranche consists primarily of untied funds intended for location-specific priorities across the Eleventh Schedule subjects.

  • The release totals more than Rs 223 crore for rural local bodies in Assam during FY 2025–26, according to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
  • Rs 219.24 crore constitutes the second instalment of untied grants for FY 2024–25 to all eligible panchayats statewide.
  • An additional Rs 4.698 crore from the previously withheld portion of the first instalment has been issued to 26 Block Panchayats.
  • Beneficiaries include 27 District Panchayats, 182 Block Panchayats and 2,192 Gram Panchayats designated as eligible by the state.
