Overview
- Justice M.S. Sonak, a Bombay High Court judge, has been appointed Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court and will take charge after Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan retires on January 8.
- On January 1, the government transferred Justice Soumen Sen to lead the Kerala High Court, to be effective after Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar retires on January 9.
- Justice Revati Prashant Mohite Dere of the Bombay High Court was appointed Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court following Justice Sen’s transfer.
- Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo of the Orissa High Court was elevated as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, with charge to be assumed upon taking office.
- The Centre also appointed Ramesh Chander Dimri and Neerja Kulwant Kalson as additional judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court for two years, while recommendations for Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta (Uttarakhand) and Justice A Muhamed Mustaque (Sikkim) remain pending.
