- At a day-long meeting in New Delhi titled “Reimagining Samagra Shiksha,” Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan led discussions with experts, allied ministries, and officials from 11 States and UTs, with Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary co-chairing.
- Participants were tasked with producing a strategic, consultative, and implementable roadmap for the next phase along with a holistic annual plan for the 2026–27 academic year.
- Pradhan said government should retain responsibility for systems and salaries while the day-to-day running of schools should be owned by society, with increased public participation in school management.
- Priority goals outlined included bridging learning gaps, reducing dropouts, improving learning and nutrition outcomes, strengthening teacher capacity, easing exam burden, achieving 100% enrolment up to Class 12, and advancing curriculum equivalence across boards.
- Officials emphasized embedding skilling, vocational pathways, digital learning, and AI into a multidisciplinary school framework aligned with NEP 2020, as the current phase of the scheme runs through March 31, 2026.
