Overview

• The fourth-phase survey of 45,000 km of rural roads under PMGSY is currently underway and Bihar’s ₹76,000 crore funding is on hold until the state submits its survey report and proposal.
• Jammu and Kashmir was the first Union Territory to send its PMGSY survey report and has received its allocated funds, highlighting the centre’s conditional release policy.
• Bihar’s leaders have urged the centre to clear ₹200 crore in pending MGNREGA arrears that they say are overdue for disbursement.
• The state has also requested funding for remaining housing allotments for EBC, SC and ST beneficiaries and for 6,800 playgrounds under MGNREGA.
• Union Minister Kamlesh Paswan met Bihar officials in Patna on July 9 to reaffirm the centre’s commitment and stressed prompt consideration of the state’s development demands.
