Centre Constitutes UAPA Tribunal to Review NSCN(K) Ban

Justice Nelson Sailo will lead the statutory review following the five-year extension of the outfit’s unlawful designation.

  • The Ministry of Home Affairs appointed Gauhati High Court judge Nelson Sailo to head the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal under Section 5 of the UAPA.

  • The Centre extended the ban on the group on September 22, effective September 28, 2025, for a further five years.
