Centre Clears Rs 708 Crore for Assam, Gujarat Flood Recovery, Okays Rs 904 Crore for Fire Services

Overview
- An HLC chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah approved Rs 707.97 crore in additional NDRF assistance for 2024 floods and landslides in Assam and Gujarat.
- Assam will receive Rs 313.69 crore and Gujarat Rs 394.28 crore, with disbursal subject to adjusting 50% of each state’s opening SDRF balance.
- The committee also sanctioned Rs 903.67 crore under NDRF to expand and modernize fire services in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, including Rs 676.33 crore as the Central share.
- Fire service allocations are Rs 117.19 crore for Haryana, Rs 397.54 crore for Madhya Pradesh and Rs 388.94 crore for Rajasthan.
- These approvals add to FY2025–26 releases of Rs 13,603.20 crore under SDRF and Rs 2,024.04 crore under NDRF, alongside SDMF and NDMF disbursements, following an Oct 2 sanction of Rs 1,270.78 crore to Assam for 2022 disasters.
