Centre Clears Rs 707.97 Crore NDRF Aid for Assam, Gujarat, Plus Rs 903.67 Crore for Fire Services

The decision uses NDRF support with a 50% SDRF opening-balance offset, signaling stronger central backing for both recovery and risk reduction this year.

  • A High-Level Committee chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah approved Rs 707.97 crore in additional assistance for 2024 flood and landslide damage in Assam and Gujarat.
  • The allocation assigns Rs 313.69 crore to Assam and Rs 394.28 crore to Gujarat.
  • Funds will be released from the NDRF subject to an adjustment equal to 50% of each state's opening balance in the SDRF.
  • The panel also sanctioned Rs 903.67 crore to upgrade fire services in Haryana (Rs 117.19 crore), Madhya Pradesh (Rs 397.54 crore) and Rajasthan (Rs 388.94 crore), including Rs 676.33 crore as the central share.
  • For FY 2025–26, the Centre reported wider disbursements of Rs 13,603.20 crore via SDRF, Rs 2,024.04 crore via NDRF, Rs 4,571.30 crore from SDMF and Rs 372.09 crore from NDMF.
